Grammar notes

  • Measure words: 碗 / 杯 / 个

    Chinese counts nouns with measure words: number + measure word + noun. 碗 for bowls, 杯 for cups, 个 is the general one.

    一碗米饭,一杯茶。A bowl of rice, a cup of tea.

  • 也 (yě) — also

    也 goes right before the verb or adjective, never at the start of the sentence.

    茶也很好喝。The tea is also good.
